Good points, thanks for pointing that out, having it read-only with just one or two people creating the blocks will rule out room for error Wink 

Looking towards getting my tool palette up to scratch with perfect blocks, hopefully this will reflect in my designs

The key to sharing tool palettes is making sure that all block library or referenced block file calls from the palettes go to a server folder that all users will see.  Sharing is caring, so it's probably best if that folder has also been set up as read-only.

Info regarding the Design Center can be found in your User's Guide.

Info regarding Tool Palettes can be found in your User's Guide and in the Customization Guide.

Tool Palettes can be exported and imported, thus allowing you to share your tool palettes with your coworker.

Thanks guys some really positve feedback there, and also helpful solutions just what i wanted.

 i'll try find a tutorial on the design centre & tool palette,

Hint:  Of these options, the Tool Palette idea is the best/most efficient!

You use the Insert command for a block or....

Drag/Drop it from Design Center or....

Drag/Drop it from a Tool Palette.

You cannot type the name of the block at the command line and have AutoCAD bring the block into your drawing.  If you tried that as soon as you hit the Enter key AutoCAD would return the words:

You can follow the dialog of the BLOCK command.
 
Or you can even make a block without starting any command:

Hi guys, 

I use CAD everyday, and generally the blocks I use are the same, I know there is a way to save things as a block (a triangle for example) then I can just insert that block by using the reference 

Can anyone explain how to do this this
