Author: jbrown1991
Subject: 9262
Posted: 31.May.2013 at 23:33

So I'm decently new to inventor (been using it for maybe a year an a half and learning it on my own), and I've recently run into a whole new breed of gremlin. When placing bevel gears using the design accelerator, I found the iMates restricting and deleted them so I could apply my own constraints. Upon applying my own constraints, the program prompted me that there was a conflict with the imates... the imates that no longer exist.

The part hierarchy of the assembly shows the imates when I'm in the bevel gear component, but the individual gears have no imates. The "phantom imates" in the gear assembly cannot be edited nor deleted. They don't actually exist, except they cause conflicts as though they do. I'm very confused and frustrated because this would be my third time having to fight with these gears. If anyone can help me, i would be eternally grateful.
