Author: heinsite
Subject: 9645
Posted: 16.Sep.2013 at 11:42

This file showed up in the Autodesk forums today too, so I spent time with it as well. Here's what I did with it. First, I don't work in metric so I resized it for units=feet, which is what most of my work is in. Then also, because most of my work involves site coordinates I modified the X to display as an Easting value, and the Y to display as a Northing value. I also modified the text to one I normally use. And finally I made the entire block Annotative.

When all of this was complete I used Design Center (ADCENTER) to move the block to one of my Library files, and from there loaded it onto a Tool Palette where it will be useful to me no matter what drawing I'm working in. The tool palette method also ensures that the block will always come in on a layer specified in the Properties of the block in the palette.

It sounds like more work than it was actually, but now I have it available to me when ever I want it. One of the reasons this came up was because it had an improvement over one I had been using. My old block would break down if it was dragged by the arrowhead tip. The dynamic code in this one solved all that. So it was worth my time messing around with it this afternoon.

Edit update: I just added this to the library here a few minutes ago as xy_ord.dwg.

Dave.

Edited by heinsite - 16.Sep.2013 at 11:55
