A good CAD Manager will recognize quality work right off the bat.

If I got a drawing from you for the first time I'd check to see if you purged unreferenced objects. I might run an audit of the file to check for database errors. I'd look to see if you used layers effectively and how you used them. Did you override layer colors and linetypes? Does the drawing look professional when plotted out. Things like that.

I think that information will be useful.

Besides, what information do you think a CAD Manager looks for when he or she inspects one of my drawings, in your opinion?

I think that the way you make blocks or use xrefs can be one point. Another could be the way you use the model space and paper space.

Do you have some opinion?

Architectural Graphics Standards does not cover equivalent standards for drawings done in the UK or in Europe for that matter. And my 9th edition, dated 1994, has nothing what-so-ever about CAD drawing standards. Does the newest version cover the topic?

Hi,

I am an Spanish architect trying to start working as a CAD technician in the UK.

Some employers ask me to show them my drawings, and I think when they open them, they donÂ´t like because they expect to see them according to the British regulations.

Does somebody know where I can learn that CAD regulations? Can you link me an example architectural draw according to that regulations?

I think we are talking about line thickness, nomenclature of layers and types of lines. And maybe some standard rotulation or similar...
