I am trying to use LINOUT to export linetype definitions for a converted MicroStation file. The file is in AutoCad format and the linetypes display correctly. When I run the routine it creates a *.lin file just fine. but the translated shapes are giving me a problem. As an example, the code shows up like this:
A,-1.6764,[{shape17},dgnlstyle-topo_V8.shx,s=0.026824,r=0,x=0,y=0],-1.6764 I assume the brackets are part of the problem but removing them makes no difference. I keep getting the Bad Definition error message at each linetype using this type of callout. Is there a way to get into the shx file and rename the shapes or is there something I can do to these definitions from the lin file? Thanks for your help, Harry hcm@msa-ep.com |

The main problem is that DWG files from Microstation are not in the genuine Autodesk DWG format and their internal structure is sometimes wrong.
You can easily fix the texts in the exported .LIN files but it may not be easy to change the existing SHX files. Please note that LINOUT does not create the SHX files, it just references them.

Thanks for your help. That makes sense. The thing is, the linetypes display okay in the dwg file I am extracting the codes from. The Shx file exists and seems to work. I can copy lines into a 100% native dwg file and the linetypes also look fine. Can you recommend a font shape editor?
