Hello all,

I have just come across a very odd thing with a CAD file from an architect.
When trying to print a layout most of the lines are not printing although none! is on a nonplot layer!!! What can that be? Any ideas?

Hi! you just check the layername of that line. Open layer manager and check the printer icon in line of that layer name, if it showing a red line crossing the printer icon, it shows that this is non-printable, then click again to remove it, now this shows that it is printable. If it is still not printing then if it is made on defpoint layer, then u must change it to another layer, because the defpoint is the layer which automatically made by autocad while making drawing, and this layer cannot be print. ok Bye!

Hi all,

thanks for your hints but none of them solves my problem.
I did previously check the non-print symbol and none of the layers are on non-print. Not a single line is on defpoints.
Now it gets even odder - I have (without remembering this problem) xreffed them into a brand new file and drawn stuff into the new file. Now all the new lines and our logo and everything disappears when trying to print just as the architect's stuff before!
It's not a recover thing either, I did audit and recover and it brought up nothing.

Could there be something wrong with the page setup? Funny enough I am working on a ground floor plan and two top floor ones. The ground floor is a seperate file and the two top floors are on another one. The ground floor is fine. I copied the layout for the roof gardens and everything except some pillars disappear!

I am absolutely at my wit's end! And I have come across loads of odd things in CAD before!

happened to me before:

possibility 1: it is a printing setting
select all the lines that are not printed, and the propriety change the thickness to "by layer". Maybe they where on "0"
Check also the color in the plotstyle that doesn't have 0 somewhere in thinkcness or in transparency

possibility 2: it is a bug
to solve it, just do:
1. in the original file do the command "purge" and purge all.
2. open a new file
3. copy and paste all the drawing from the original to the new empty one.
4. save with another name

if it is a bug, usually it works! Big%20smile

good luck
