Can't find the Insert point!!!!!!

Hi,

When I inserting an AutoCAD-block into another AutoCAD drawing. The insert point (UCS) is always far away from the middle of the drawing, and it is difficult to find the inserted file. Please help!

You can change position of block (in original dwg) in properties.
Insert Block prompts for insertion point.
OR: COPYBASE allows you to select basepoint & copy to clipboard for subsequent pasting in your dwg.

Hello freelan8, when you make a file to be inserted into an other this file becomes a block.
You have to choose the point 0,0 ( or 0,0,0 in 3D ) to be at the extremity of you mouse when inserted.
Draw your file in that way, for example if you draw a screw, choose the middle of the head base to be at 0,0.
You are talking about insertion but is it copy/paste ?

When you are creating a block and you are prompted by AutoCAD to specify the basepoint you should always make a habit of picking somewhere on the geometry of your object and NOT use 0,0,0 as your insertion point.  Adherence to this simple rule will spare you the agony of this type of problem in the future.  It is a good CAD practice to follow.

It does not need to be 0,0.  Use the BASE command in any drawing to define what point in it will be the insertion point when it is inserted into another drawing.
