Interoperability: The ability for complex systems to work together.

We are developing a system that will import data from design software (e.g. RAM, STAAD, RISA, etc…); create a BIM, and then create fabrication dwgs according to user parameters in the program settings.  I’m curious if there are other firms out there embracing the BIM possibilities as aggressively as we have and what types of issues they have encountered.

Our program is Building Integrated Design and Detailing interface (BIG-DADi) http://www.big-dadi.com/ - www.big-dadi.com and it is uses AutoCAD as the operating platform.  We have successfully implemented interoperability between RAM, STAAD, NavisWorks and other software packages; as well as the creation DSTV files.
