I want to give the dot line type a thickness along with some width. I have done this before, but its been a while ago. I remember exploding the line & making sure my start & end z are at 0. All the line editing I do only gives the line a width. Thanks for any help. Mark

You want to edit the actual linetype file to give the dot linetype a thickness?

Not edit the linetype file. Just edit the properties of the linetype to give a thickness. When you stretch out the dot line by giving it a width, I want the individual lines that were just widened out to have a thickness that shows better when plotted.

Thickness in AutoCAD refers to vertical height. It does not refer to width. Lines can be given a width by changing them to polylines first via PEdit then using the Width option. However, assigning a width to a dot linetype will only result in what appears to be a series of straight line segments (imagine railroad ties).
To make the dotted linetype appear bolder put your lines on a separate layer and assign it something other than the default lineweight.
