How do I divide a known distance on a graduated scale? Example;
 
I have a distance of 340mm and I want to divide this into 60 graduated spaces. sort of like an array but not linear but an equal graduation.

Hello tlnaab, as 340/60 is not an exact measure you will have to use the command : DIVIDE.
In the command at the 2nd step you have the option (Block) and you can use it to insert a block ( type the exact name of the block ).
With the command MEASURE you can do an other type of array but with a distance instead of an equal array.
You can use these commands on lines, circles, arcs, polylines.
 
P.S. If you launch the command LINE, clic for the first point, specify a direction with your mouse and type 340/60, enter then AutoCAD will draw you a line of exactly the good length : 5.666666666.........

That could probably be worked out, but I would want to know more about the nature of the gradation.  Should it be an arithmetic progression of different spaces [i.e. each space larger or smaller than the next by an equal amount], or a geometric progression [i.e. each space larger or smaller than the next by an equal ratio], or perhaps something different?  How much bigger or smaller than the average size should the largest and smallest spaces be?  Etc.
