hello, you can actually get autoCAD 2008 MEP programme which is specifically made to cater for the building services industry. MEP is Mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
There may be a text book called 'autoCAD MEP for dummies' on the market that will help you use this programme.
Hope this helps :)

i was wondering something sim. to the question. I am using acad 2005 arch desktop, and i need to do a electrical plan. is there an addon or something that will drop in outlets and switches for me, so i dont have to make blocks, copy and paste, rotate and all that?

There are many electrical add-ons for AutoCAD which will probably work also in ADT. See e.g. Cadelec, ECSCAD (newly acquired by Autodesk), ElProCAD, etc.
