For some reason anytime I try to insert a block into my drawing the program completely stops, I can't click, move, edit or exit out of the program while in the command. The program doesn't completely crash because I can still hit ESC and everything will be back to normal. It's almost as if the command is functioning properly but the insert box will not appear.

I originally made these blocks in our old 2008 program on a master template dwg and we recently upgraded to 2013. It'll work on my coworkers computers but not mine.

I know it can still see/read the blocks because when I enter the BLOCK command to make a new one I can see them on the drop down bar. Does anyone know how I can either fix my insert command or can directly enter the block editor so I can at least copy/paste what I need from there?

Thanks

Why don't you just do a REPAIR of the installation and see if that fixes the problem?

FYI - A Repair is NOT the same as an uninstall/reinstall.  It's the least invasive choice and not the nuclear choice.  Got it?

I will give that a try. I will need to let my boss know since I am not the acting administrator. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hello pweeks, we recently moved from Autocad 2008 to 2012 and we had some problems with file that we couldn't open on anything else than FATAL ERROR.
I did an AUDID on all them and had errors repairs but 1 wasn't OK.
I had to open it with an other CAD program ( DRAFTSIGHT ) and do 27 copy/paste to paste the model and paper spaces ( 27 pages of a big 3D procedure ).
This was OK after then but exhausting !

I think that an AUDIT on each problematic file would be the solution.
Do a SAVE just before inserting a file for some time.
Do you have a crash on each 2008 file that you insert?

If the blocks work on the coworker's computer (as per OP's original post) then my guess is AUDIT will do nothing to solve the problem.
