HI,
 
I have been doing my reserch on acad2008 in my free time and that is the time i came accross the command field and rtext. I read through the help on these commands. truly speeking i could not understand the use of the command. could any one explain to me what these command fileld and rtext can do.

You can use it to automate texts in your drawing - something like generalized dimension texts. You can e.g. display/insert a text contating the current drawing name, current user name (e.g. for your title block), current elevation of a blocks (an automatic elevation label), etc. These text are automatically updated when you change the source property (e.g. when you rename your DWG file, login as a different user, etc.).
