We have received an stp file from a vender. Is there a way to convert this to rfa format so that the modeled equipment can be brought into our current project in revit?

I don't think you can directly convert from one to another.
Do you have a machine that runs AutoCAD? You could import the .stp into AutoCAD then export it out as a .sat file which can then be imported into Revit.

Thanks for the feedback. But from what I've read, going through autocad to create the .sat with slow revit down. I have access to vanilla cad, but I also have inventor fusion. I should be able to do the same thing in inventor fusion correct? Open the .stp then convert it to .sat?

Yes, you can do that.
