Are you on a network with more users or are you "single" user?

If single user, check your printers, are the printer "drivers" on the same location at your disk?

When you open an Dwg file in AutoCad and try to print it, AutoCad always looks for the printer you have used before (the printer that is set to your layout). If that printer is moved on your drive, it will take a while and then the printer dialog box shows up, and in the box "printer/plotter" it says "(plottername)  missing" Re locate the printer and print as usual.
Next time it should be a lot faster, if not,  it could be the same thing with your CTB files (Plot style table, settings)

when i get into the plot folder in autocad
all the drivers are showing under the plot devices tab, plotter configuration
i'm not getting "plotter name missing"
it all appears as it did before
.....
on my c:drive under autocad 2002/drv
there are my autocad plotter model parameters files
c:/autocad/2002/ Plotters
there are my autocad plotter configuration files (.pc3 files)
thinking this is where they should be ????
.......
also under the tools menu/options
command is slow to execute as well
....
is doing a windows restore an option, going back to SP2
or does that create even more problems ??

What I mean is that your printer drivers (printer software) might have been moved on your harddisk after installing SP 3.  And AutoCad cannot find them on the same place as before.
