Hello all,

I have researched this on here, but am still having issues.  Basically, what happened was I closed a file I was in on accident and didn't save and lost a whole days' worth of work.  I really, really, really need to recover the file.  I have the autosave function backing up my file every 5 minutes or so and it I was able to find the .bak file in my temp folder.

I copied the .bak file to my desktop and converted the extension to a dwg file (by going to folder options and changing the setting to view file extensions not simply adding .dwg file to the end of a .bak file).  I can see the file is now a DWG file and it even is 2,262 KB and I can even see the drawing in preview pane, however, when I click on it, it opens autocad to a blank Drawing1 file. Nothing pops up or anything saying it can't locate the file or anything of that nature.

Anyone have any ideas?  Should I try a reboot?  I can't attach either file (the backup or the dwg file I made from the backup) but I can email it possibly if someone wants to try on their end.  Thanks!

Ok, I figured it out on my own.  Once I converted it I had to go through drawing recovery and open the dwg file.  Mission accomplished sorry to waste anyone's time.

You might want to clean the drawing up by using the -purge (Regapps first, then All) and Audit commands.
