Hi, please someone can tell me, in some drawings the drawing size shown in drawing property is 1.24 MB and when I give the printing command to my plotter, the size shown in plotter box is 5.35 MB due to which my plotter shown an error "Out of Memory". How can I reduce my file size so that I can easily get my output from my plotter. ------------- Add by Kaleem |

Size of the DWG file is not directly related to size of the plot (PLT) file. PLT file size depends on the type of drawing objects. I have already been try to resolve this problem by deleting all the un-wanted objects from the drawing, but some times it works and oftenly the problem remain exist. ------------- Add by Kaleem |

Are you trying to plot a drawings that has an image? On shaded Viewport Option try to reduce the Quality to draft or normal. ------------- Once a De Molay always a De Molay. |

Use the purge command and remove all the blocks and any layers that no longer have items on them.. Of course use with care (as it can remove text styles which you might conveniently want at a later date), I usually don't purge al, but purge at Block level - then it will remove all blocks and individual layers.. This usually trims down our drawings by a fair amount. Of course if you are using common, complex, repeated items you may want to look at xrefs.. I think there's a tip on here about them :) HTH :) |

hey there my friend:
to shorten your cad file do this in your keyboard type; > PU "Purge" note: a pop out box will appear > Highlight "View Items you can purge" note: left click in your mouse > Highlight "Purged Nested Items" note: left click in your mouse again my friend > Left Click Purge all. Note my friend : If you use this command finish 1st your drawing and in the last moment when you start to "publish or print" thats the time you use PU (Purge Command) and after that you simply press in the keyboard "Ctrl + S" Hope this Help my friend... ------------- the sound of perseverance |

***you'll solve your problem using an alternative driver that will reduce up to 50/60% your files: it's a Third Party product even suggested by HP and Autodesk.

This happen when you are try to printing as PDF format. Maybe is better to convert dwg as pdf an then follow below way. To print the document, from the Print dialog choose Acrobat Reader from the pop-up menu rather than General. Next, from Print Format choose Print As Image rather than Postscript. | You could even try to print the drawing as dwf from dwf viewer. It worked for us in our office. Dont ask me why, it just worked :) |

DWFs are a lot smaller - they only contain the information in the Layout tab as opposed to all of the gubbins and layers and so on of the Model tab.. |
