my computer keeps on prompting me to upgrade. I am about to give in to the pressure. But I still use autoCad 2006 becuase I use it with an add-on that is no longer supported with later versions, namely: smartlister, a cutlisting millworkork program. I am now running windows 7. Is it basically a rule that whatever will run on windows 7 will run on windows 10, albeit in XP compatibility mode?

You can easily get rid of the stupid upgrade nag by uninstalling KB3035583 update.
I would ask yourself what benefit would Windows 10 offer?
(I'm staying with Windows 7)

I would not upgrade to Win10 unless there was some good reason to do so.  I too am staying with Win7 (the Ultimate version).  Same goes for work where I run Win7 Pro.  If it ain't broke why fix (destroy) it?
