I want to draw a 3D coil that I can then use as a path to extrude a face with. Or, if I can use a large diameter wire, I could make a second with smaller diameter and subtract from the large. The idea is to represent a coiled condenser tube as used in chem lab.
I tried using the SOL_SPRING.LSP file, but I'm new to using the LISP applications and couldn't select a valid "3D Spiral".
Can someone suggest an alternative or tell me how to use the app?

If you are using a newer version of AutoCAD, you can also try the [CMD]HELIX[/CMD] command.

Thanks Vladimir, but I'm using version 2006 which doesn't have the HELIX command.
Now I also would like to be able to draw threads, as in machine screws, and pipes. In sizes from 1/16 to 4", both male and female.
Any other ideas?

Hi Roger,
As u have indicated that u are bit new and are using 2006, creating male and female threads is not difficult.
I am quite familiar with it. I can create the same for you.
