Hi There

A colleague approached me with a DXF file that was 16mb and asked could I get the file size down. She also gave me the DWG that was just under 500kb. I resaved the DWG as a new DXF and it was 2.0mb. I did nothing to the file I was wondering if anybody knew why the original was so large and if in the future I'm given just the DXF is there a way to reduce the size?

I'm using autotcad 2016. Unfortunately the file contains confidential information so I am unable to post it on here.

Thanks in advance

Aaron

There are many options influencing size of the exported DXF file - there can be Binary/Ascii DXF files, you can set precision (decimal places), export just selected objects, include proxy information, thumbnails, etc.
