Boffin mate said I should run dual OS as many programmes like Autocad run better on WIN 7 Was put out at having to buy the WIN7 OS again - got a pile of PC's with licences under desk! Took this up with MSN Online Customer Support - and they re-instigated my old product key Hope this helps anyone in the same boat :) best wishes Nick |

Actually it is the other way around. AutoDesk will not support AutoCAD 2014 running on a Win10 system as Micosoft leads while everyone else follows. This is pretty much standard procedure and has been for a number of years. I believe the support cycle for AutoDesk products is three years anyway. That aside, I do know people who are running older versions of AutoCAD on computers that have Win10 as the OS so it is possible but it may not always go smoothly. ------------- "Humans have a strength that cannot be measured. Thanks John - understood Point I was trying to get over is that I didn't have to pay to download the Windows 7 Operating System to run side by side with Windows 10 - When I put it to them that Autocad wasn't yet supported on W10 which limited my choice of PC, and that I'd paid time and again for Win 7 license's in the past on now defunct machines - Microsoft Customer Service re-activated the license of an old computer (now in spares cupboard) which allowed me to download a copy of the Win7 OS for free :) I've got Win7 and Autocad on a dedicated SSD which is lightning fast - with Win 10 as originally installed on my HDD to deal with the everyday. Off the shelf computers are getting so fast with graphics cards etc.. that even entry level machines can run Autocad in Hi Def Rendering - But you seem to get more for your buck nowadays with Win10 machines : The addition of dual Win7 / Win10 matches cheap high speeds with a stable platform :) and there are good guides on You Tube that even I can follow! YOUR version of AutoCAD is not supported under Win10. On the other hand 2016 and 2017 are so the real answer is to upgrade. If you don't then you have to use a work-around like you did.
