After opening a drawing (in CAD 2009), Mtext that was previously created with a right justification or RT on the command line, separates and is “thrown” all over the place.  The text is still contained in the mtext box, but the text is everywhere.  Has anyone experienced this??

I think one of the Service Packs for A2009 has addressed this.
