Setup multiple VPORTS years ago. Now can't seem to get it correct.
I only use model space and paperspace.  Cry

Paper space viewports can be set up using the MVIEW command.  I'd recommend creating a separate layer for your viewports and designate them as "no print" in the Layer Properties Manager.  That way they will appear on your screen yet not be printed.  I would also recommend that once a viewport is set up the way you want that you lock the display so the viewport scale won't be inadvertently changed.
