Hi there,

I'm undecided whether I should purchase AutoCAD 2018 or Solidworks. I currently use Autocad 2010 for both my 2D and 3D designs.

Ideally, I want to be able to create a BOM for my 2D drawings which will give me the measurements of each part in my drawing. Also, when doing my 3D drawings I want to be able to have a BOM and exploded view without having to manually move and label each part.

If there's a way of doing that on AutoCAD 2010, I want bother upgrading, but I don't think there is.

So, AutoCAD 2018 or Solidworks?

Thanks!

I think that Autodesk Inventor should be your next logical step to 3D - the same software vendor, the same file format, fully parametric 3D, BOM, exploded views, industry standard software.
