Hello knowledgeable people.

I have 2 half-decent computers in the office, 1 opens AutoCAD in 18s, the other in 44s.

OK one was relatively new, the other had some apps installed (inc Revit), but go with me... The specs:
Microsoft Surface Book 2 Dell
Processor: Intel Core i7-8650U (8th Gen) Intel Core i7-7700HQ (7th Gen)
Processor release date: Q3 2017 Q1 2017
Cores: 4 4
Processor max clock speed: 4.2GHz 3.80 GHz
Processor cache: 8MB 6MB
RAM release date: 2013 2014
RAM qty: 16GB LP DDR3 16GB DDR4-2400
RAM speed: 12.8GB/s 19.2GB/s
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 1060 nVidia Quadro M1200
Graphics card release date: Jul-16 Jan-17
Graphics card memory: 6GB GDDR5 4GB GDDR5
Hard drive: SSD SSD

The performance on various tasks (note CAD open time difference):

Criterion: Performance Performance
Offline navigation instant instant
Online navigation instant  instant
Hi-Res photos on cloud: 1 large icon every 3s 1 large icon every 3s
Hi-Res photos local:  5 large icons every 1s 13 large icons every 1s
10MB Excel file cloud:  26s 21s
10MB Excel file local:  14s 13s
Opening CAD: 18s 44s
Opening CAD file: 5s 7s

These are not perfectly accurate timings, but as a basic indicator of performance actually _doing_ what we do all day, it threw up a surprise (to me) in how slow one was opening AutoCAD compared to the other.

Note: we have another laptop to throw into the mix, which is older and much less spec'd, which performs similarly to PC2 above when opening AutoCAD:

Lenovo:
Processor: Intel Core i5-7200U Criterion: Performance
Processor release date: Q3 2016 Offline navigation instant
Cores: 2 Online navigation 2s
Processor max clock speed: 3.10 GHz Hi-Res photos in Challenger online: 1 large icon every 7s
Processor cache: 3MB Hi-Res photos in Challenger offline:  15 large icons every 1s
RAM release date: 2014 10MB Excel file cloud:  41s
RAM qty: 8GB DDR4-2133 10MB Excel file local:  11s
RAM speed: 17GB/s Opening CAD+T 46s
Graphics Card: Intel HD620 Opening CAD file SGL Duct+ 9s
Graphics card release date: Aug-16
Graphics card memory: 0 (uses 1 stick of system ram)
Hard drive: SSD

I have no idea how this will look in a forum post, I hope you will be able to see something I can't see - I'm scratching my head!
