Hello carlosban71, yes you can do this in 3D. First you draw an HELIX and then you SWEEP a circle representing the diameter of the coil spring ( diameter 22 ). Do it longuer than the total length so that you can SUBTRACT the flat extremities. The difficulty here is to modelize the extremities that are with a path of 22 instead of 34 at each end. There is the possibility to modelize individually the top, middle and low parts of the coil ( next to come the explanations ). P.S. If you open my file 3D solids 01.dwg available in the CAD/BIM Blocks library you will find the explanations for HELIX and SWEEP in the line : 3-SOLIDS CREATION 2 on page 1

OK carlosban71, it looks good but why height 22.1 instead of the initial 22 and you could have placed the little diameter 22 at a better rotated place at the end of the spiral, vertical and not horizontal in the 'never known' case something could baddly happen with the sweep. When drawing an helix you can always modify it whith the properties pannel ( Ctrl + 1 ). I hope that you keep every step of your objects so that you can modify everything easily. Remember that your helix will disapear when you do the sweep.
On the other hand the last image shows a good result and now you have to do all the other steps to get your final and complete coil spring. |

| No carlosban71 sorry I don't have any but 0.1 mm of difference is nothing to cope with the problem and there will be no problems as you will anyway subract 15 mm from the top and low sweeped solids to figure the flats at each end of the coil spring. it will be very good anyway. |

| Hello carlosban71, eventually you could try instead of sweep an EXTRUDE with the option P ( path ) to see if 22 mm is OK but I don't know if it's going to work on the helix. |

Hello carlosban71, yes they won't "joint" perfectly because of the different slopes between middle, low and top. Remember the note on my first drawings Note : some interferences may happen between top, middle and low because of the sweep ( when you select an object to sweep, it is automatically aligned to the object that is used as the path ). Also I can't open your AutoCAD here at home also because of the .rar file, instead you could place the AutoCAD file in the CAD/BIM Blocks library here in the site for it to have a real life after this discussion. On the other hand what is the precision that you ( really ) need for this work because a first step without precise junction could be enough ?

Hello carlosban71, I have placed in the CAD/BIM Blocks library the file : Spring 3d taller-PJH.dwg with all the steps to achieve the complete spring. I took a look at the junction between the Top, Middle and Low element after UNION and it looks that it's all melted correctly with no need for anything more.
The steps are named from 3D SCKETCH to UNION for you to see from the beginning to the final 3D object. The various steps are copied by 200 mm with ortho on ( F8 ). Please tell me ( us ) if this is OK for you.
