Hi,

I’m exploring how to use AI with AutoCAD and wanted to get your thoughts. Do you think Python, .NET, or maybe another language is the better choice for this kind of work?

Thanks a lot for your input!

AI for what? Generative designs? Translations? Or AI for programming AutoCAD? You can program AutoCAD with native APIs for .NET, VisualLISP, Javascript or ObjectARX (C++).

I’m interested in giving AI a set of drawings to analyze and then generate a new drawing based on instructions, such as updating infrastructure layouts. In your view, would Python be a good choice for this, or is it better to rely on .NET or ObjectARX? I’d appreciate your guidance—thank you.

First of all, you will need a training dataset in a format comprehensible for your AI tool. It is not a choice of a programming language but rather a choice of this format, its taxonomy and its "large geometry model" for AI.

AI instructions for switching views and basic editing operations will be soon part of AutoCAD, Revit, Civil3D, Forma or Fusion - through Autodesk Assistant.
