I've just started working with autocad and have the 2008 lt edition I was just wondering if anyone can help me. I have a drawing at 1:1 in model space and need to put it into paper space with a 1:500 horizontal scale and a 1:50 vertical scale. So far I only know how to have a viewport at one scale can anyone help please?

You can't have different X/Y scales in a plain AutoCAD or LT. The easiest workaround is to make a block from your drawing and reinsert it back with a non-uniform scale (X/Y/Z).
