Whats the best way to have a flawless conversion of my inventor assembly to max. I tried iges and the it will be in one layer only on max.

You can read Inventor files directly in 3ds max - see:

By the way, im with inventor for 3 years now and started to work on max now. other software that were using now are autocad 2008 and Rhinocerous 4.
