well this is really not going to work, to create a 3d solid in autocad just extrude what needs to be 3d, but Inventor will open the file but you will not be able to do anything to it. I have tried this, i believe that inserting an autocad file into inventor is for the purpose of sketch only. meaning your autocad file is a template to create the sketch you want.

are you looking for 3D or 2D valves? You can download them straight from this site. Look on the left of this website for CAD BLOCKS and just look in the folders and you will find what your looking for.
