Problem: When fieldbooks are imported, the resulting coordinates are not correct. I know this bc the "keyed in" coordinates are incorrect. In some instances, the coordinates in the database do not match coordinates of the points in drawing.

Are there settings for the reduction of fieldbooks?

i am not having any of these issues when I do duplicate the process in Land Desktop 2005.

Do you use an assumed datum or a known datum? Are you using a company drawing template where the coordinate system is already selected?  Sounds like when your importing into Civil 3D that the Global coordinate system for your area has not been selected. that sounds like that could be your problem.

I used both known datum and none. they both did not place the points on the correct coordinates. I did this on two surveys. Both surveys, the control points were GPSed.....so they are already on the correct state plane datum. From the those control points a general total station was used. So, when the fieldbook is imported i would think the work is mimiced to produce the same coordinates.  i am a little confused b/c this never has been problem using Land Desktop 2005. Civil3D is by far a superior software.

I am still wondering what the problem is.
