What version are you running? 2008, 2009?
 
I had the same message when I was running AutoCad Architecture 2008.
 
Make sure you have all the latest Service packs.
 
Also in OPTIONS,  System,  3D Performance,  Performance Settings,
View Tune Log.  Make sure your  machine contains a certified 3D Device.
 
A had to update the 3D Device and that solved it for me.
