Hi

Is there a free addon for autocad 2009 that will help me with a landscaping project I am doing?

What are you trying to do? Create a surface?  if so there is no addon you need to have a software specific to that whether it is Civil 2010, Civil 3D, or Land desk top software, or software that surveyors use. There is no add on i know about to purchase for an add-on to Vanilla CAD.

For terrain modelling the best software is LDDT. If you have requirement for short period of time just install free version for Trial period (30 days)
 
The free trial versionyou can download from Autodesk site http://www.autodesk.com - www.autodesk.com   or ask them for free CD's

You can try the Xanadu DTM free addon application - see:

But its functionality is very limitied in comparison with the specialized "terrain modelling" version of AutoCAD - AutoCAD Civil 3D.
