I'm doing a site plan.  How do I set my viewport to either 1:50  or 1”=50’ in autocad?

Just click on the paperspace viewport and select the requested scale on the drawing status bar or enter it (custom scale) in the properties window (Ctrl+1).

make the viewport active, then type z s 1/50xp
