Yes it is true, Google
is competing in the business of Computer Aided Design. Their Google
Sketch up is getting more popular than ever and the CAD superpower
Autodesk can't stop it or buy them out ( Autodesk bought both 3ds Max
and Maya). Google has more revenue than Autodesk. So perhaps, Google

Well, Google has SketchUp for more than 3 years now. And there are no substantial changes on the CAD market related to it. SketchUp is great for occassional 3D modeling but I doubt that it will be ever widely used for the professional CAD design and drafting (2D drawings, parametrics, dimensioning, BOM, local standards...).
