HI, CAN ANYBODY TELLS ME THE DIFFRENCE BETWEEN TURN OFF LAYER AND FREEZE LAYER  , I WONDER IF THERE IS SOME PROFESSIONAL USE OF THEM CAUSE THEY DO THE SAME THING , I AM WRONG?THX.

Short answer-
they're different.
Freezing a layer removes information from current memory for regens, zoom limits, etc. Thawing a layer causes a regen. takes longer than turning on a layer.
 
In early AutoCAD freezing was preferred a it freed up memory and speed was better. May not make much difference-unless certain layers have a lot of objects.

Hallo,

the main difference:
when you turn off a layer, acad hides the layer itself,
when you freeze a layer, all the objects in that layer (blocks for example), hides, not only the layer.

another tips:

turn off layers is better to use @ model space while freeze layers is better to use @ layout space........this is for me......but other people is equal to use either model or layout space....it depends the situation and users......
