what is LIMITS, describe the likely stages to be followed when invoking this command?????

With the [CMD]LIMITS[/CMD] command you can define an area where picked points (coordinates) are being accepted - see also the [VAR]LIMCHECK[/VAR] variable.

This is one of the older commands.
