Howdy, new to the forum.
We have dynamic blocks created by our now gone cad guru that we are having problems.
1) can insert these blocks and all is fine. Upon returning to the drawing, or opening a drawing sheet with the details in which the d-block is a component, the draw order is out of wack and only parts of the d-block can be seen. I can go thru the entire detail fixing draw order via block editor and all looks fine. Upon returning to the drawing, the draw order may be as last saved, or the block may be behind itself.
2) Upon blocking editing to fix above draw order issue, after saving the changes, the hatching is now outside the parameters of the dynamic block. Stretching the d-block will push the hatch back inside the block.
3) sometimes after fixing only one of the blocks with the draw order issue, then all the rest fix automatically.

| Maybe he got canned and got even, lol. That sux. Is there a way you can make them ....un-dynamic? If its not needed, that may solve problem? |

You can modify draw order, but I think thats just like a layer display varible.
If I were you I would just explode the bastard blocks and be done. But then you have to keep track of changes and what not, may create more problems.

When I explode the blocks, any hatching that is part of the block that has escaped the boundaries of the block remains outside the boundaries and the hatching must be redone. Is there a methodology problem with how a dblock is setup that cause draw order, hatch confinement, or other problems? Is there an order to drawing and setting parameters and variables within the dblock that will cause problems if not done properly?
These blocks can grow in both directions relative to the base point. Is there a problem if the dblock is stretched from the base-point end negative to its relative position? Will this cause a problem? In other words, should the base point always be stable and the whole block moved relative to the base point and then only stretch the block away from the base-point and only from the end opposite of the base-point.
Does there seem to be a intrinsic problem with dynamic blocks? Is anyone out there having a similar problem? Otherwise, whats the purpose of using them if only to explode and rehatch when the problem pops up? ------------- TedF. |

I wish some OTHER people would POST to this (hint hint!), as im not all that great with blocks...in Acad. But from what I have learned with autocad products, when you start linking/referenceing/dynamic..ing, things get messed up pretty quick. Basically you gotta have a stellar IT dept. Which I lack |

I appreciate your effort. I have always been pretty apt at finding the glitches in AutoCad. I also have found that when there exists a stumper, then asking the same question in many different ways will usaully cause someone out there to associate several seamlingly disassociated conditions and come up with a resolution. Prowousness in CAD for it's own sake without COMPLETE understanding usaully cause more problems than the time it saves. KISS principle usually rules.------------- TedF. |
