Does anyone know how to edit the name of an existing block?

Here's the background: I am working in CAD with a furniture dealer's software.  I have a whole floor laid out with their furniture blocks.  Now we are changing the furniture names to incorporate an existing building inventory and I want to rename my blocks.  The block has a text attribute set up to display what the block name is.

So ideally, there would be a way to change the block name only once and have it update to the 300 or so same blocks I have already positioned in my drawing.
