Yes it is true, Google is competing in the business of Computer Aided Design. Their Google Sketch up is getting more popular than ever and the CAD superpower Autodesk can't stop it or buy them out ( Autodesk bought both 3ds Max and Maya). Google has more revenue than Autodesk. So perhaps, Google should buy them out. What do you think? Who do you think will win?  vote --->> http://cad.yolasite.com/

Sketchup is indeed getting popular.

Tried it a couple of times, I'll have another look later today.

Just too busy to stick with Sketchup for the time being. Thanks for the reminder.

Right now, i don't see either one trying to buy the other, or any part there of.  Autodesk is more than just AutoCAD, and Google is more than Sketchup.
Autodesk is CAD and animation.  Google is advertising.  Two very different markets.  AutoCAD has a product to sell, Google has space to sell ads.  If Google does anything, it will be creating a way to put adds in Sketchup.  And Sketchup doesn't really compete with Autodesk.  Sketchup is a line drawing design tool.  Autodesk products, even AutoCAD, are intelligence based.  Sketchup is good fro concept drawings, where Autodesk is good for actual design work.  Plus they can do concept drawings too.  Sketchup is a memebr of a small community where Autodesk products are gigantic in design.
