Hi all,

I'm a Uni student. I am hoping to buy myself a laptop but want one that will be able to coup with  AutoCAD, I think we will be using Autodesk Civil 3D this year. I was thinking a min RAM of 3GB Hardrive space I want is to be in and around 320GB I'll need a Dual processor with a min of 2.0 GHz. If I’m not correct on any of the about please let me know. What I don't really know is about the specifications of the Graphics, I've been told to stay clear of an integrated one. The laptop I'm looking at is the ASUS X5EAE-SX047V whose Graphics spec is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200, is this suitable?

I've looked up the Autodesk webite but unfortunately this particular one is not mentioned.

Any Advise appreciated. Thanks.

I dont know about the graphics-card, but i do recommend as much ram as possible.

I haven't tried it myself, but you might want to consider using the 64 bits version.

See here for the recommended minimum requirements: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?siteID=123112&id=8915326." rel="nofollow - http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?siteID=123112&id=8915326.

They list 4GB RAM as a minimum for the 32 bit version, but since a 32 bit system can't utilize more than 3.5 GB RAM, that's a pretty stupid recommendation. I would suggest you go with a 64 bit operating system and the recommended 8GB RAM.

Of course 64 bits is the better way to go, but if you are running at a 32 bits system you will notice the difference between 3,5gb ram and 3gb.

I'm running at a 32 bit system. Have 4gb ram, and it works ok.
But i will convert to 64 bits pretty soon.
