what is the best way to import pdf drawing to autocad 2010 so that the pdf drawing can be edited i.e. remove all unnecessary text, labels etc. and put all the the remaining stuff in layers and do a mechanical (air conditioning) drawing over it.... Any one knows the best solution to this.....pliz let me know....cheers.... |

Hello Open the PDF in Adobe Illustrator. Then export the drawing to AutoCAD on a 8 bit setting. Open the drawing and use scale command to scale the drawing according to the pdf drawing scale. If there isn't a drawing scale then use a dimension on the drawing. Good Luck!!! |

thanks for the response...but one more question...when the pdf drawing is opened in illustrator will we be able to edit the pdf drawing same when exported to autocad.....thanks |

You'll re-work the AutoCAD drawing and make revisions and/or changes there.
You could open the *.pdf in Adobe Pro and do a little *.pdf cropping there, save as a *.pdf then open in Illustrator.

| Yes, like Tankman said. You can modify the drawings. Yet the line weights and layers may not be the same. That depends if they plotted with it. If they flatten the pdf. Then layers won't be available. |

I believe there is a free trial download to try it out.
I use pdf2cad on occasion.

I USE PRINT2CAD CONVERSTION SOFTWARE. $149 SOFTWARE THAT TAKES CARE OF VECTOR PDFS NICELY. RASTER PDFS PRETTY MUCH NEED TO BE REDRAWN AFTER CONVERSION. ------------- dtsosie |

I offen Use Illustrator open PDF and export to DFX format.
But the PDF must be built by AutoCAD or some drawing software and not a picture!

Converting DWG paper space to PDF's has usally been rather simple, and upon opendning the pdf files generally there used to be no layers to turn off and on. Now that I am running autocad 2011 Lt. I am finding that when a DWG is converted to pdf and opened in adobe reader there is the ability to turn on and off layers. Is there anyway to stop this from happening either in autocad or adobe acrobat 9.0? (the version on my computer) |
