I recently installed Inventor 2011...trying to figure out some of the new tools etc. Whilst attempting to use iCopy, I found i needed to link the assembly to a .idw file with iAuthor (?) and I've been unable so far to find any info on the web to explain how to do it!
Any help would be appreciated!

I'm not sure what your actual intent is, pertaining to your project, but if you go into the Help Topics section in Inventor and type in "iCopy", there is quite a bit of information that explains all about iCopy and iAuthor.
