Hi

 

I created some blocks and used them in a drawing, now I want to add these to another drawing but when I use the insert command the blocks don’t show up on the list. So far I’ve had to go back into the old drawing and copy and paste the blocks between drawings, but I assumed that the blocks could be saved independently somewhere and then inserted into any drawing. I’ve search for them but with no luck.

Does anyone know where they would have been saved or how I insert blocks into any drawing?

Any help would be much appreciated.

We save blocks in a CAD library folder we have created  on the server (or on the PC), accessed by hitting the 'browse' button on the block insert panel, this then gives 'select drawing file', open the library folder then  select whatever is wanted from the drop down list.

If you created a block, inside your drawing, it is saved only inside that drawing. If you want to be able to use that block over and over again, you should use the WBLOCK command. This command allows you to save your block out to its own individual drawing file for future use. And as Greenbuoy suggested, start developing a library of your most frequently used blocks.

I agree with Cad64. Wblock is the way to go. But with Adcenter you can insert blocks in your drawing from another drawing.
