Incorrect distance using Civil3D

Whenever using the distance command it gives an incorrect distance..It shows a 3D distance and also an incorrect 2D Length.

It will always give you the 3D distance for that command. Just make sure that the two object you're measuring are in the same elevations to get the right horizontal distance or just make a temp polyline between that two objects and check the lenght through its properties.
