I am using AutoCAD Mechanical 2004 and all of a sudden
if I click on the power diminsioning tool I get the following text:

Command: _ampowerdim Unknown command "AMPOWERDIM".  Press F1 for help.

Anyone know what is going on and how to fix the problem? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is it possible that the command has been undefined?

Is there a Redefine command in your program?

I am not sure what you mean by undefined. I tried reinstalling and upon reopening the program I am being told that it "cannot find a dll or other file that it needs". Then at the end of loading this is what I have found.

Unable to load the following modules:
   ge_load.arx
   C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MDT 2004\desktop\dm.arx
   C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MDT 2004\desktop\ad.arx
   C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MDT 2004\desktop\grefad.arx
   C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MDT 2004\desktop\assembly.arx
   C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MDT 2004\desktop\mapiad.arx
   C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MDT 2004\desktop\mapiam.arx
   C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MDT 2004\desktop\mapidm.arx
   C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MDT 2004\desktop\mapisys.arx
   C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MDT 2004\desktop\amdt_browser.arx
   amg3.arx
   amg3d2d.arx
   C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MDT 2004\desktop\amdt_designer.arx
   C:\Program Files\Autodesk\MDT 2004\desktop\am_asmui.arx

Does any of this make sense?

I am not sure how to check for a redefine command in the program?

I typed redefine then AMTITLE. Then I got "unknown command name"

Yeow!  Uninstalling / reinstalling AutoCAD was a pretty drastic step for the problem you were trying to solve.

Check your Help file for both the UNDEFINE and REDEFINE commands.

In the future, if you have a problem that cannot be solved by any normal means then first try the REPAIR option located on your installation media or in Windows > Add/Remove Programs > AutoDesk Mechanical 2004.  If that fails to solve the problem then you might have to reinstall.  I say "might".  As you have found out a reinstall can cause problems you did not have beforehand.

I should have told you before that I did try the repair option first; it seemed like nothing had changed. From the begining I tried the mechanical help file and it was not able to be found. Then I tried the AutoCAD 2004 help and it opens up just fine only no help for mechanical issues.
I tried to type redefine and it came back as a unknown command.
I type undefine then the command name "amtitle" that came back as unknown command name.
I have also found that if I open options I get no mechanical tabs like I had before.

When I type UNDEFINE at the command line AutoCAD prompts me for the command name.

Sounds like you have a real mess on your hands.  The uninstall may not have caught everything that needed to be cleaned up.

I wonder if you could load the missing components via the ARX command?
