I'm new to AutoCAD electrical so maybe this is not a smart question.

When starting a new project from scratch, what is the best order of operations?  After creating the project, what is the first thing i need to do as far as entering components to be used.  What is the first drawing that is best to start with.  So far i've read to not work on the panel layout first.

So where do i start, on a power diagram, schematic, PLC, panel layout??!!

I would recommend starting with a schematic where you'll work with wires, buses, symbols, wire numbers, etc.

Will you be creating any templates?

I'm still getting a feel for all the terms and the layout of the program.  So i can't answer your question yet.
If a template is the "WD_M block" it asks to automatically put in then yes, i would like to create a custom block with my company info and such.

I'm talking about a template that would have your own title block and border along with any text styles you normally use.

A tutorial on creating a template?  I'm not sure if that is something that can be found here at the CADforum.  I'm kind of new here myself.

OK.  The following is not specific to ACADe but it should give you a good general overview.

Another tutorial re: creating a template.

For your consideration.
After much searching I found a book that might be helpful.

Just got lucky.

I hope it is better than the User's Guide that AutoDesk makes available.  I think the guides should be written by "users" not "programmers".
