Why do you need freeware?  Is there a specific requirement you have?  Or is it just a pricing issue?

AutoCAD LT is relatively cheap and is great for 2D.

cheers for your reply mate.

No its not a money issue. I have to compare two different 2D packages, ones is AutoCAD and need to compare it with a freeware package. I am a student doing a degree in CAD and its all engineering modelling, but im doing this for a project. I have only ever used the 3d pro-engineer so im trying to learn a bit more about the 2d stuff.

If you could help anymore that would be great if not, cheers anyway.

All I've ever used is AutoCAD.  I did start with Microstaion but that was 15 years ago, and it's not freeware!!

Do a search online.  I hear that TurboCAD is ok, maybe try that one.
