Is there a cad-cairiable for the taper angle command. Sometimes it works fine, but on other systems here it just doesnt work.

Taper angle command?  What version of AutoCAD are you using?  Are you working in 3D?

well, I meant taper faces  Embarrassed, we are using 2011 and sometime we need to draw in 3d!

I can't think of a variable that would make the command work differently or not at all on different computers.  I think it is simply an error on the part of the user.  It could even be bad geometry. 
 
Maybe you need to have a "lunch and learn" session with all CAD operators to teach them the proper use of the command.  The session can include analyzing drawings where the command appeared not to work in order to figure out the root cause of the problem.
