As we get closer to the launch of Project Photofly 2.0, we have been busy beavers. Our Labs Marketing Director, Dominique Pouliquen, just got back from London.

On Tuesday, several people attended the first UK-based Project Photofly workshop in Arup/University College of London. Dominique used, as a test case, their neighboring UCL building, that he shot the day before. Everybody was very impressed by the results.

On Wednesday, Dominique trained 4 people from the REM team of Scott Wilson (plus some Autodesk colleagues as well) in Farnborough. The training included the shooting of photos by using the Autodesk Farnborough offices. This building had been a very difficult project in the past, but Dominique successfully managed to get the corresponding 3D wireframe.

Some problems occurred on stitching with this highly repetitive and reflective building. The manual stitch (which is really easy to learn and use), finding the right strategy to unstitch wrong cameras, and then reconnecting them manually to get the final project, requires some practice, but in general Project Photofly 2.0 does a much better job than its 1.2 predecessor.
